Before you leave your Tinton Falls, Middletown Township, or Long Branch, New Jersey home, read our review. Then you can try out your favorites in person at World Subaru.
The Subaru Outback can be equipped with two different SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder engines: a 2.5L or a 2.4L model.
If you drive the Base through Touring trims, you’ll get the first engine, while the Onyx Edition XT through Touring XT trims feature the second one. This enables you to tow a maximum of 2,700 pounds with the first set of trims and 3,500 pounds with the second set.
A variety of gas mileages appear in the Subaru Outback. With the Base through Touring trims, you’ll achieve an EPA-estimated 26 city/33 highway MPG. In the XT trims, you’ll reach an EPA-estimated 23 city/30 highway MPG. For the Wilderness, you can achieve an EPA-estimated 22 city/26 highway MPG.1
Four diverse materials can be used to upholster the interior of the Subaru Outback including cloth, StarTex® water-repellent, leather, and Nappa leather.
Base and Premium come with cloth, while you’ll find StarTex® in both Onyx trims and Wilderness. If you want leather to furnish your seats, choose the Limited for traditional leather or the Touring for deluxe Nappa leather.
If you’re driving the Base trim, turn on the SUBARU STARLINK® Dual 7-inch Multimedia that comes with four speakers.
Move up to the larger SUBARU STARLINK® 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus with the Premium, through Limited trims, Onyx Edition XT, or Wilderness. Or opt for the SUBARU STARLINK® 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation that comes with the Touring and is available for Premium, Limited, and Wilderness trims.
While Premium uses only six speakers, the Onyx Edition through Touring XT trims can be outfitted with the 12-speaker Harman Kardon® premium audio system.
See what’s lurking in less visible spots with the Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert systems. They’re standard for the Onyx Edition through Touring XT trims and available for Premium.
To stop you in your tracks if an obstacle appears in your path, Reverse Automatic Braking can help. You’ll find it in the Onyx Edition through Wilderness trims.
If you’re driving after a long day and feel like dozing off, your Outback will nudge you to stay awake or take a break through the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. This feature is included in both the Limited and Touring trims although it’s not standard in the primary Limited trim.
